When this little girls mom started sending me photos of what she had in mind for this session it was very obvious she was drawn to the “golden hour” light. The hour before sunset and the hour after sunrise are simply magical. It is warm and golden, flattering and not harsh. There are many photographers who will not shoot natural light photography any other time of the day! I wasn’t sure if she was going to go with the idea of a 7:00-7:30am start time (With a 3 year old!) but she was COMMITTED!!! It was SO worth it!!! The light in these first few is just gorgeous and Ella Brooke looks like a china doll to me <3
This photo shoot was in honor of her birthday! Her mom and I are good friends and I can tell you first hand that Ella Brook is smart and spunky, beautiful and determined. Everything a true southern girl is made of! Happy birthday Ella Brooke, you are beautiful in every way :-)

We had the amazing opportunity to spend Easter weekend on vacation! It wasn’t a particularly restful vacation but we had a TON of fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat! We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo with some of our extended family that was literally on the beach. Between fun in the sun, some outlet mall shopping, searching for crabs in the moonlight and Easter photos our 2 day “vacation” was crammed full of activities. It is hard to sit back and just relax when there is so much you want to experience in such a short time :-)
Friday
My kids have been talking about going to the beach ever since we planned it and they were SO excited to get there after a 6 hour car ride and arriving at 9:30pm. In the morning they woke up and rushed to the window and were so sad to see rain and storms… It was absolutely pitiful when I told them that we were doing a shopping day instead of playing on the beach… In spite of the rain we did take them on a rainy walk down to get our toes wet though ;-) An afternoon of shopping the outlet malls to pick up some things for their new baby sister (supposedly arriving the beginning of August) and then out to eat at a local seafood place! (Ahhhhhmazing) :-)
Saturday
The next day was filled with the beach! It was BEAUTIFUL!!! Crystal clear water, gorgeous white sand and 3 adorable children to take pictures of. Noah wasn’t really feeling well though so it was a little difficult to get much of a smile out of him…
That night we went looking for crabs on the beach. We didn’t find any crabs but we did see a pelican! I LOVE knowing my camera as well as I do!!! It was very dark out with only the light of the moon and I didn’t have a tripod with me… I would have never been able to get this image otherwise :-)
Sunday! Easter day! Picture day! Travel day…
We got an early start and had a fun time taking Easter pictures on the beach with the kids. It was SO nice to have my husband helping out! Noah literally wanted to RUN in to the water. It was very funny actually ;-) They keep us on our toes, that’s for sure!
I made her dress this year :-) It is actually something I do on the side here and there… I only make custom dresses but if you want to take a look at what I have done in the past you can check out my Precocious Peanut Facebook page or my Precocious Peanut Etsy Shop.
I am a little sad to post these photos actually… I think I have had a grin plastered on my face the whole time I have been working on them! They are such precious memories and I can honestly say they represent this trip well :-) Please leave a comment and let me know what you think :-) I would love to hear from you!

Jenny and I have been really good friends for a while now. She is a fellow home-school mom and this is her 5th child (I am pregnant with our 4th) so needless to say we have a few things in common! When she asked me to do her maternity photos (she has never had them done with her previous pregnancies) I was a little nervous… The first thing out of my mouth was “You know I have never done a maternity shoot before right?”. She just shrugged and said “I like all your other stuff, I’m not worried.” and that was that!
We were on the hunt for flowers because she is having a girl but when we came upon these purple flowers we both just KNEW! You see, they are going to name their new little one Violet (which is why she chose the purple dress to begin with)! The sun was setting (it had been overcast all day but peeked out just in time for pictures) and I am in LOVE with the light in some of these <3
Please feel free to leave a comment at the end. I would love to know what you think!

I have been working with Nathan’s mom for a bit now and after they had their annual family pictures (it was a gorgeous session on Madison Nature Trail) she decided she wanted to do something special around each of her kids birthdays. She wanted to do a mini session that was all about them, in an environment that would showcase their uniqueness and individuality. We did her oldest daughters session at the Huntsville Library and it was awesome to watch her come alive with a book in one hand and her American Girl doll in the other! Last week it was Nathans turn… This is truly the perfect environment for his personality to shine through! We met at Creekwood Park in Madison AL and I simply loved how comfortable he was the whole time. It’s amazing how when a child is having fun you don’t ever have to tell them to smile :-) I can’t wait for it to be time for her youngest to get her own mini session! We have some really fun things planned!!!

I continually am blown away by this little peanut. She has been sprouting some freckles over the past year and I absolutely LOVE them!!! They never seem to show up in photos though so today while she was playing outside I saw them and wanted to see what I could do about actually getting them to show up in a photo. I am incredibly biased but I think she is absolutely beautiful <3 It only took less than 5 minutes to get all of these. It makes me wonder why I don’t force myself to take more “nice” photos of my kids…

This photo was taken not 5 minutes before he proposed. Doesn’t the look on his face just say it all!!!
It has been impossible to not smile while I work on these! Their excitement is contagious :-)

This was such a fun shoot! We met at the Historical Train Museum Depot in Huntsville and just had fun exploring the old train cars :-) It was a great environment for young kids and I think they had fun as well ;-) These are just a few of my favorite shots and I would love to hear what you think of them!!!
