Meet my brother Aaron and his wife Catie. They are having their very first baby and I can’t even tell you how excited for them I am. They are going to be such amazing parents and with their gorgeous genetics this baby is going to be absolutely adorable! Aaron is in the Air Force and they are stationed in California at the moment. This little peanut is due only 2 months before he is scheduled to be deployed for 6 months. In the mean time they are enjoying this time and still head over heals for one another!
I told them I wanted to get some photos of her bump while they were here visiting me. The last night before they were going to leave I looked outside and realized the sky was gorgeous and we were running out of time! Ten minutes later we were in the car headed to one of my favorite sunset spots. We were only out for about 30 minutes but I have so many images that I am in love with <3

If you hadn’t noticed, my absolute favorite people to have in front of my lens are families and if you have young kids, that is just icing on the cake!!! I absolutely love photographing the gorgeousness that is in this time of life. It is so precious and so fleeting. Kids are little for such a short time and I cherish the opportunity to document these moments.
This awesome family braved the Alabama Summer heat for these photos! We got an early start and headed up to Madison Nature Trail. It was a beautiful backdrop for this adorable family. Working with young kids can be challenging at times but this little guy was such a trooper!

I love doing new things! There were so many firsts for me with this session and I had a blast doing them all.
Rosie has been to the US Space and Rocket Center Space Camp EIGHT TIMES! After learning that, I wasn’t surprised to hear that she want’s to be an astronaut some day. Every year at about this time, her dad has driven down from NC to bring her to Huntsville.
As she and her mom started talking about her senior year photos the idea came up to have them taken at the place that holds so many good memories and also represents what she is working so hard to achieve.
It is so much fun to step outside of my “normal” and flex some new skills! I can’t wait to share even more of these images with this fantastic family once I have the rest of the gallery completed. :-D

This family! Goodness!!!
So Heather (the gorgeous mama you see in these photos) is a wonderfully talented Maternity, Birth and Newborn photographer in the Huntsville area. I first heard from her when she called me as I was walking through Gap with my husband on vacation. There I was, talking to someone “new” on the phone with a stupid grin on my face (my husband looking at me wondering who in the world I could be talking to. lol) because from what she was saying I KNEW she loved what I love and that this was going to be so much fun!
Fast forward a bit and we got chatting about the details of their session and we started to get to know each other. I absolutely love it when I find new friends through photography. It’s like the icing on an already delicious cake <3
We were both praying for a sunny day (leave it to 2 photographers to hope for a bright sunny day in the middle of the hot Alabama summer) for photos. lol. God must have been listening because it was not only gorgeous, it was super low humidity and about 10 degrees cooler than it had been!
We had a blast! I love every single one of these and I can’t wait to get the rest of their gallery finished so I can show them all to my new friend. <3
As the sun said goodbye, the girls played and danced in the field. It was such a beautiful evening <3

I have worked with Melody a few times now. I LOVE her style and it comes through so clearly when she makes her little dresses <3 This dress is a new one that hasn’t even been released yet but I urge you to follow her on Facebook, Instagram and her Online Store because when she posts them, they go FAST!
While we were taking the photos I got a little “inspired”. lol

I recently had the privilege of attending a Jacky Jean Mini Workshop in Atlanta, GA a few weeks ago. To say that she fit a lot in to a short time would be an understatement! Over the course of 5 hours we had the opportunity to cover so many different things.
For our first set (a senior) shooting in mid day sun and posing women. To be completely honest, I am not super comfortable in the more urban locations so this was such good practice for me. I loved seeing how others used different elements and angles.
We also had the sweetest set of sisters come to let us practice on. <3 These two girls had so much personality and Jacky had such a cute way of styling the session. Edgy and sweet all at the same time.
We took a break for dinner and then headed out to our second location. Where we found a vintage truck and an adorable mommy with her 2 littles to go with it. The freckles, shy smiles, light and cuddles are all things I absolutely love, so I felt a bit more comfortable in this environment. It was wonderful watching Jacky and learning from her method.
Our second family was decked out in gorgeous dresses from Leah Marie Couture. The entire evening was a gorgeous one <3
As the sun sank lower I just got more and more giddy. The light rims everything with gold. It never fails at this point in the evening that I just feel like there is magic in the air. Even the bugs that are such pests during the day are beautifully visible dancing in the air.
This workshop was such a fantastic experience. Jacky answered every question we threw at her and it was so much fun meeting and getting to know other photographers that are all talented in their own specialties and passion. These fellow photographers are truly a beautiful community that I am blessed to be a part of.

When Meredith first contacted me and I asked her to tell me a little bit about them, the first thing she told me was “I never even wanted to get married until I met Mike.” She then went on to tell me all of the things she fell in love with. If there is anything I am good at in this business it is recognizing when someones eyes smile. It is so beautiful to watch someones eyes light up just because of the proximity of someone else. Funny thing, his do too!

When this mama asked me if I could find a location with water so I could take photos of them playing and just being kids I got SO excited!!! This summer I am planning on incorporating more streams and creaks in to my photography sessions with the hope that parents will allow for this very thing. There is just something about water (and bubbles) that brings the joy out in kids. They just can’t help it! I intentionally focused on candid moments for this session and I simply love how these turned out (I hope you do too.) <3

The Fall season is SO busy and crazy around here. I do have a method to the madness, and it worked like a well oiled machine this past year, but by the end of November I am super ready for a break! Fortunately, most people aren’t looking for family photos in December or January so I do get a breather. During my little break I soak in all of the tutorials, workshops and new skills I can get my hands on. Come February I am ready to go again (to try out everything I have learned over the past 2 months) but the weather is never quite as ready as I am. lol. Fortunately I have a really great friend who is willing to freeze her butt off for me <3
I put this shoot together specifically to flex my newfound skills and to try out specific techniques that I had been dying to put in to action. It may not be in the style that I normally shoot in but I had so much fun experimenting and coloring outside my typical lines. :-)

This shot was my overall favorite. This image is a composite of 3 different photos. I changed it from day to night, added the snow and created the lamp light.

So many times my own personal photos never make it to the blog. Rarely do I to a “whole session” with my kids. It is a little here, a little there whenever I see something I want to capture and they happen to be having a happy moment. lol
