Oh the colors <3 Seriously, is there anything better than the Fall season?
This location holds some really special memories for this family and when they told me I couldn’t help but be excited to document their family in such a sentimental spot. The puppy you see in these images has been by her side her whole life. He has been patched, stitched, loved and mended. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have photos of your little ones with their favorite things that bring so much comfort during their first little years.
Fall has begun in North Alabama and it couldn’t be more beautiful!!!

I was talking with a friend yesterday discussing my children’s fine art images. You see, I am not good with words… I “can” write but it takes me SO LONG to put together my thought so it is readable. My brain goes in a million directions at once and it is hard for me to put it in a linear format so it is easy to read. I often talk things out with this friend because she is exactly opposite. She has a way with words and she says things beautifully.
Anyways, she said “You are taking pictures and then editing them with the filter of childhood”. When she said that I went “YES!” lol It seems so simple but I hadn’t boiled it down in to words yet. My plan is to start offering these “Magic of childhood” sessions in 2017. They will have a focus on imagination and childhood dreams.
Once she said that it got me thinking and I am brimming with ideas. There is something simply magical about childhood. Every daddy is a super hero, every mommy holds magic healing power in her kisses, shadows are mysterious and light is full of sparkle and magic. Home made tents turn in to castles, paper towel middles have the power to turn you in to a pirate, and with just a little Photoshop magic wish you can grow fairy wings. <3
I can’t wait to share the new adventures I have planned with you this coming year. <3

I met this family last year when this little one was about to have her first birthday! I can remember walking away thinking what a gorgeous family they make. ;-) There is just something about this little girls eyes when she smiles… It’s like she has an extra little glow and light. It’s not hard to figure out where she gets it from because her mama has the same glow when she smiles.
I know I have said it before but I am going to say it again. I absolutely LOVE getting to watch families love on each other. It is one of my most favorite parts of this journey and I just can’t get enough!!!
This family are huge Whovians! Mike had a special request that I do a fine art piece with a Tardis in one of their photos. Right at the end he said “Extra points if it is flying.” (Challenge accepted!)
I am a little nervous about what they (and everyone else) will think to be honest. lol. I myself haven’t ever seen the show so I had to do a bit of research and I seriously hope I didn’t botch it… *holding breath* ;-) It was so much fun creating this and I just hope this image brings back good memories of time spent as a family enjoying something that they love.

I absolutely LOVE in home lifestyle sessions! There is something about kids being in their own space, lack of posing, the beautiful LIFE that happens inside the place we call home. Sentimental details are everywhere, memories around every single corner and every single bit of it is something I want to remember with my own family. This sweet little one is the last of 3 girls and her mommy decided she wanted images to help remember those little moments that we so quickly forget. The way she snuggles, plays with her toes when she nurses, so close to crawling but not quite yet, the look of adoration when she looks at her big sisters, the faces and the dimpled fingers and curly toes.
Maybe I love doing these sessions so much because it has a way of bringing those memories back for me and my own children as well. <3

It isn’t often that I get to document a little ones first birthday ON their actual birthday!!! I can’t even tell you how cute he is. His personality, so sweet, his looks, so handsome, his family, so loving and the evening was absolutely beautiful. There aren’t many things that children remember from this young age. It is more of an imprint of love and care that they carry with them in to the future. Even though I am not one of the important people in his life, I love being a part of giving him some images of what his family looks like “right now” and how well they love, so that he can see how cherished he is at such a young age.

I am absolutely obsessed with the images of this adorable family! This big brother is SO sweet and SO in love with his little sister and watching them together was just the most precious thing. She absolutely lights up when he interacts with her <3 To give credit where credit is due, I think he learned how to treat a girl from his daddy. ;-)
It never ceases to amaze me how much I enjoy watching families love on each other. It is a beautiful thing that helps me realize how blessed to have my own family.
Children learn so many things from their parents (Mine are particularly good at learning the things I don’t want them to copy! lol) but it was SO obvious to me that this little boy has watched how well his daddy treats his mommy. He was so careful helping his sister walk and stand. Seriously sweet in every way. <3

I absolutely LOVE grow with me plans. Getting to document all of the little changes and milestones as little ones change so quickly their first year is so much fun!
I have loved working with this family from the start. His beautiful mamas maternity photos, his newborn photos, 3 month and now 7 month. He has grown and changed so much. <3
It all goes by so quickly doesn’t it?
I couldn’t help but include this last one. He is such a happy baby but by the end he was done with me. lol It is just SO adorable and funny all at the same time! <3

I was SO excited when I got the message from Courtney saying they were expecting their second baby girl. She then went on to say that she wanted to talk to me about grow with me photo plans!!!
Why was I so excited?
First, because I absolutely loved getting to know her oldest (now big sister) for her first birthday photos.
The second reason is that I take clients coming back to me as a HUGE compliment. I try so hard to not only make the families in front of my lens happy with their experience at JMP but also completely satisfied after every image and final product is delivered.
To have them come back (and for something as important as newborn photos) tells me I succeeded. <3

If you hadn’t noticed, my absolute favorite people to have in front of my lens are families and if you have young kids, that is just icing on the cake!!! I absolutely love photographing the gorgeousness that is in this time of life. It is so precious and so fleeting. Kids are little for such a short time and I cherish the opportunity to document these moments.
This awesome family braved the Alabama Summer heat for these photos! We got an early start and headed up to Madison Nature Trail. It was a beautiful backdrop for this adorable family. Working with young kids can be challenging at times but this little guy was such a trooper!

This family! Goodness!!!
So Heather (the gorgeous mama you see in these photos) is a wonderfully talented Maternity, Birth and Newborn photographer in the Huntsville area. I first heard from her when she called me as I was walking through Gap with my husband on vacation. There I was, talking to someone “new” on the phone with a stupid grin on my face (my husband looking at me wondering who in the world I could be talking to. lol) because from what she was saying I KNEW she loved what I love and that this was going to be so much fun!
Fast forward a bit and we got chatting about the details of their session and we started to get to know each other. I absolutely love it when I find new friends through photography. It’s like the icing on an already delicious cake <3
We were both praying for a sunny day (leave it to 2 photographers to hope for a bright sunny day in the middle of the hot Alabama summer) for photos. lol. God must have been listening because it was not only gorgeous, it was super low humidity and about 10 degrees cooler than it had been!
We had a blast! I love every single one of these and I can’t wait to get the rest of their gallery finished so I can show them all to my new friend. <3
As the sun said goodbye, the girls played and danced in the field. It was such a beautiful evening <3
