I love how my approach to newborns spans more than the first 7-14 day window. Yes, if you want those sleepy baby images that is the optimal time to do newborn photos, but I use a baby lead approach that has allowed me to still get beautiful images of babies outside of the first month. In fact, this precious little peanut was 2 months old!
She did, to my surprise, give me a nice long happy nap. I don’t know what she was dreaming of but it must have been something wonderful because she gave me the most beautiful little smiles while she was sleeping. <3
This sweet family wanted to make sure to get an updated family photo so they added a little extra time on at the end to allow for some family photos. The “little” season of life can be difficult but it goes by so quickly and holds some of the most gorgeous memories of any other time in my life.

Families genuinely loving on each other, it is my absolute FAVORITE!!! These two boys couldn’t be more loved and their mama and daddy are obviously sweet on each other. These little moments are so precious and they are gone before you know it.
I was talking with a friend at church this past Sunday and pretty much I am going to summarize our whole conversation down to one sentence.
GET PICTURES TAKEN!!!
They are little for only a moment and then they are grown. Document your family, document your memories. If you cant afford professional photography then have a friend do it with their cell phone!

This family was just SO sweet! There is something about kids this age that is so simple and honest. I love capturing those genuine moments when it is just so easy to see the love that exists between each other. The way Kiley’s eyes smile when Bo talks to her, the way Bo wraps his arms around his boys, the way the boys eyes light up when their parents love on them. It is what makes every day beautiful. It is what I want to remember for always after my kids are grown.
These “little” moments are forever precious.

For a day that threatened rain the weather could not have been more gorgeous! The location, with the fall colors and rustic charm was simply perfect for this beautiful wedding. I had the pleasure of meeting this family last year when they were searching for a photographer to take their family photos. I absolutely love it when I get to see families come back year after year. I love seeing how their kids have changed and having the opportunity to document “right now” for them.

I have been looking forward to taking photos of this family for a LONG time! I know some photographers prefer smaller groups but I am absolutely in love with the dynamics of a larger family. I am the oldest of 6 kids myself and I know first hand how awesome having that many people to love and be loved by is. I also know now what it is to be a mom of 4 little ones myself and how fast the time goes by.
The more photos I take and the longer I do this thing called “Photography”, the more I find myself photographing the things I want to remember about my own children and family. The little moments, the way they smell, the weight of them when they are hurt, their treasures, real smiles and how they look at me with complete trust and their heart in their eyes.
I just want to capture the moments that I want to remember for always for my family…

I ask every single one of my clients if there is anything sentimental or special they would like to use or work in to their family photography session. The answer I got from this beautiful family was that they wanted their home to be a part of their shoot. They moved in to their forever home not long ago and they loved the idea of taking photos that celebrated that permanence.
I loved it!
This family is composed of such sweet people and these walls will house so many beautiful memories over the coming years. I can’t think of much more that is worth celebrating.

I can’t even tell you how much I love how these images turned out. I have been talking with Holly for a while now about outfits, styling, locations and all of the other little details that go in to a session like this. Holly’s hair and makeup were done by the very talented Brittianna J. ;-)
I think it is safe to say all of our hard work paid off!
We met up at a new location that I found in Madison and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Holly specifically asked if I would focus on capturing their relationships and love for each other and not so much “looking at the camera”. All I could think to say was YES!!! This is they style of photography that makes me all giddy. I try and work a good dose of “lifestyle photography” in to all of my sessions, but to have a whole session devoted to all of that wonderfulness was amazing!!!

This sweet little one is not only adorable but she is also celebrating her 6 month milestone! Her Mama wanted to tangibly remember this special time and reached out to me. I am SO glad she did!!!
All of these images were taken in their own home and even though this session was all about documenting her as she is I was able to grab a few of her older sister as well. They absolutely love each other and Little bit absolutely lights up when she sees her big sis. (It is just about the sweetest thing ever!)
I love documenting these sweet moments for families. The time just goes by so fast and I love giving parents something that freezes time and brings back all of the memories of that period of life. <3

A babies first birthday. I just passed this milestone for the 4th time with our youngest and I have such mixed feelings about this bittersweet time. The first birthday underscores for me the fact that they are not a baby any more. Have I mentioned that I LOVE babies??? When their first birthday comes around I always have a hard time accepting that my baby is gone and a beautiful spunky toddler has taken their place. I absolutely love watching them learn new things, communicating and watching them explore their world on their own but I still ache for my baby, the one that I see on my phone screen that I saved there only 6 months ago. The first year of life goes by so fast and they change so much!
This little darling was no different. Full of adorable spunk and smiles!!! Her mama did an amazing job styling this first birthday cake smash. All the way from the balloons, custom cake, handmade cake topper, tutu outfit and bubbles. It all worked beautifully together and she made my job so easy!

Meet Austin! We met up to do a mini session as a part of his Grow With Me package. I have absolutely LOVED watch him get bigger each time I see him <3 He was absolutely precious in his newborn photos and just perfect for his 4 month session!
He has just started to pull up to stand. He is just so proud of himself!
