My husband and I are both parts of large families. I am the oldest of 6 kids and he is the oldest of 4. As close as we all are, we are pretty spread out all over the country (Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Washington, California, South Dakota…), but every once in a while I have the opportunity to take pictures for our siblings and I have to say it’s really a special thing for me to get to do. <3
Two of my husbands siblings came to Alabama for Christmas and we started planning months before they got here to take these photos! It’s been 3 years since we took photos last and seeing the difference in their kids as well as my personal growth with photography is really fun. <3

I seriously had such a wonderful time with these two! They were so fun and energetic AND they brought the most adorable little rescue puppy with them.
I absolutely LOVE photographing families and one of the things I make sure to do is to get at least one photo of just mom and dad. There is something that happens once kids come along… Love gets deeper, love grows wider but it sometimes isn’t as “shiny” as it once was either.
When I have the opportunity to photograph couples at the beginning of their journey I just can’t help but enjoy all of their “shininess”, but also be excited for them and their future as their love gets deeper and wider. <3

Gena contacted me last year about family photos and we have desperately been trying to figure out a time that would work ever since! You see, Gena had gone back to school and was working her way through a 2 year Nursing program. After talking about MANY different dates, schools schedules changing and life just happening, she graduated (Whoot!!!) and we were able to finally make it happen! :-D
I had such a wonderful time with them and I am so glad to have gotten these family photos before her oldest leaves for college this coming year. <3

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this family! At the end of the night both of the kids came up and gave me a huge hug before they got in the car. They not only were sweet to their parents and were incredibly polite but they had me sweet on them by then end of the evening. (I love it when that happens <3)
I haven’t finished this gallery quite yet because I need to continue work on a special fine art piece that they requested. You see, they love to travel and it is something that they do as a family as often as they can! I have so many ideas but I think I have settled on one that includes a hot air balloon. ;-)

When I think back to this evening the thing that comes to mind is the word “fun”. This family was just fun from the very beginning! Running, piggy back rides, spinning, skipping rocks, jumping and a ton of squeeze hugs!!! We were also blessed with a beautiful evening and sunset.
I know I say it often but I consider it such a privilege to get to peek in to those authentically beautifully perfect moments in your family. It is so unique and special and sometimes just takes my breath away when I am editing. It takes artistic vision and technical skill on my end but to be 100% honest, I can’t take a picture of something that isn’t already there. These images reflect what IS there and that is what makes them so deeply special. <3

This little boy stole my heart in about the first 30 seconds after I met him. His mama pulled him out of the car with his little balled up fist rubbing the sleep out of his eyes but as soon as he looked at me he smiled with the sweetest little grin. <3 He continued on to be the happiest little boy finding pure delight in all of the rocks, leaves and sticks!
This family is about as sweet as could be and I am so grateful for all of the fantastic clients I have gotten to work with this year. It has been such a pleasure. Truly.

Goodness! I absolutely love it when I get to see these little ones over and over again. I was privileged to do this little ones newborn photos and I just can’t believe it has already been 6 months!!! They just grow up so FAST!
This precious little girl has some very talented parents! They have their own business creating beautiful modern furniture for little ones. I completely fell in love with her nursery when I walked in. If you want to see a couple bits of it there are a few images at the end of her newborn photos that show off a few elements. I am continually amazed by the unique beauty that each family brings to their session. There are some similarities… The gorgeous way parents look when they watch their kids, the dynamics of working with young children, the way little ones look at their parents with hero worship in their eyes and the way that all comes together to create memories that are worth being reminded of every day. <3
On the other hand, no two families are the same and every single one turns out so gorgeously different, showing the differences and personal details that makes their personal happy so special. It takes my breath away sometimes. :-)

Oh the colors <3 Seriously, is there anything better than the Fall season?
This location holds some really special memories for this family and when they told me I couldn’t help but be excited to document their family in such a sentimental spot. The puppy you see in these images has been by her side her whole life. He has been patched, stitched, loved and mended. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have photos of your little ones with their favorite things that bring so much comfort during their first little years.
Fall has begun in North Alabama and it couldn’t be more beautiful!!!

I met this family last year when this little one was about to have her first birthday! I can remember walking away thinking what a gorgeous family they make. ;-) There is just something about this little girls eyes when she smiles… It’s like she has an extra little glow and light. It’s not hard to figure out where she gets it from because her mama has the same glow when she smiles.
I know I have said it before but I am going to say it again. I absolutely LOVE getting to watch families love on each other. It is one of my most favorite parts of this journey and I just can’t get enough!!!
This family are huge Whovians! Mike had a special request that I do a fine art piece with a Tardis in one of their photos. Right at the end he said “Extra points if it is flying.” (Challenge accepted!)
I am a little nervous about what they (and everyone else) will think to be honest. lol. I myself haven’t ever seen the show so I had to do a bit of research and I seriously hope I didn’t botch it… *holding breath* ;-) It was so much fun creating this and I just hope this image brings back good memories of time spent as a family enjoying something that they love.
