This is the second photo session that I have had the privilege of doing for this sweet family, and both times, they have brought the kids grandparents along to be a part of it. Can I just say right now, if any of my clients ever ask if they can include grandparents in their photos, my answer will be YES! No extra charge, just “yes”. I come from a large family, and the depth and importance of family is something that should be celebrated. Not to mention, how special it will be for these boys to have these images with their grandparents when they are older.
We met up on a chilly morning in the heart of Downtown Huntsville. The light was just right, their family SO sweet, and I can’t think of a better way to start a weekend than chasing these two little boys around as they explore and document a family that loves so well.

The amount of joy I get from seeing parents love on their most favorite people is a little over the top. lol. Seriously though, I get home, off load my memory cards, back up the images, and then proceed to have a permanent grin on my face the whole time I am editing… I have literally wondered why my face muscles are sore, and then realized that I was editing for longer than normal earlier that day.
This family makes my face hurt. I can’t even stop smiling as I type this! This is their land, with their people, on an evening that was so gorgeous it made me sequel as it unfolded.
These moments y’all, they are priceless. Yes, I was there to document it all, but you know what makes these images so precious? It’s not the paper they will be printed on, instead it’s that they are now tied to memories of a time that this little boy was still small enough to fit on his mamas lap. They are valuable because he can sit on his daddy’s shoulders and that the adorable missing front tooth will soon be filled in with a new one. They are priceless because even though life is exhausting when you have little ones, it is also beautifully simple.
Cling to that simple beauty. It will disappear before you know it.

I confess, I got quite excited when I saw what she chose to wear when she got out of the car. I mean… She looks like a princess! Seriously, it was so much fun.
When they looked over my location options, they ultimately fell in love with the water, and I am so glad they did. There was something magical about the evening, and I am so glad I was able to capture that in the images.
Thank you for choosing me to document such a special time in your lives. I can’t wait to snuggle your little one soon!!!

I am SO excited to share this with you!!! Our website is almost up and we are so excited to share all the amazing things we will be offering from Five Oaks Farm, but it isn’t quite done yet. We do however have honey for sale!!! We’ve had an amazing harvest this year and we want to share it with you all. The flavor is mild and amazing. It is unpasteurized (so it’s perfect for medicinal uses) and made right here on our property in Hazel Green Alabama. As always, we care for our hives with only the most natural processes. #savethebees

This family was amazing. Seriously. They suffered through all my bad jokes, (because all of my jokes are aimed at young children and total “eye rollers” for older kids) and attempts to get a genuine smile. lol.
Y’all, I admittedly shoot families with young children a lot more than ones with older kids. My talking points and jokes are admittedly rusty when I have someone older than 12 in front of my lens, but oh my goodness, they were just SWEET on each other.
Leah, thank you for inviting me in to this time in your life. Choosing a photographer to document your “right now” when things move so quickly, is an important decision, and I am SO happy that you chose me. Your family is gorgeous and your love for each other is what makes these images worthy of being a part of your families visual history.

Goodness, this session was so much fun! We had a beautiful session from the start, but we ended our time on the huge swing that we have hung from one of the oak trees on Five Oaks Farm. Sweet snuggles, playing, squeezing, swinging, jumping, telling secrets and SO MANY GIGGLES!!! I can’t wait to share more, but for now this will have to do. <3

This was their first photo shoot all together… It gives me chills to think about what these images reflect.
We had to reschedule, then we changed the location at the last minute… I always worry about last minute changes, not because it bothers me, but because I worry that it will make my clients feel frazzled. Whelp, if it did, it didn’t show! The evening couldn’t have been more beautiful and this sweet family couldn’t have been more perfect. We romped all over Five Oaks Farm and took full advantage of all of the yummy golden light until it was completely gone. <3 It was an amazing evening, and I absolutely can’t wait to show them their full gallery. These are just a handful of my favorites from our time together!

Oh my GOODNESS!!! It has been crazy around here the past few weeks. I am happy to report that we are all moved in and have made a good dent in the task of unpacking.
We shot this session in MY NEW STUDIO!!! I can’t wait to use it more, and I can’t think of a better family to be the first to use space. Fun (or not so fun) fact… The electricity in our new home hadn’t been turned on yet, so there wasn’t any AC for this shoot. AHHHH!!! We had planned this session with a (what I thought at the time) generous buffer to make sure we were done with the house. Well, one little delay lead to another (as many building projects do) and the bottom line is that babies don’t wait! I spent the two days before their session setting up the room and we made it work with extension cords and fans to keep it cool(ish). lol. I can’t express how thankful I am for how they just rolled with it. I am in love with every single image.
This family have been clients of mine ever since she was pregnant with their oldest. I can’t express to you how beautiful it has been watching this family grow and seeing this little boy get bigger. He is such a happy, spunky, joyful kid and is always up for a smile.

They have two littles and she is pregnant with their third. I remember this time of my own life, and it feels like forever ago. How is it that it feels like days will never end, but then I blink and whole years have gone by? Being a parent is tough. Being a military family is tough. This sweet mama wanted to document her baby’s 18 month birthday and get some family photos before their whole world changes yet again with the birth of their 3rd son. I always get so sentimental when I think about the changes that happen when a new little soul is added to a family. There is so much growth and stretching, and all in the most amazing, but sometimes uncomfortable ways. This little guy gets to be the baby of the family for just a little while longer, and that is absolutely something that should be celebrated and documented. <3

Meet Elizabeth. Shes gorgeous isn’t she? Well, shes my second cousin. <3 She and her mom drove all the way from Michigan to have me take her senior photos. GAHHH, I am SO glad they did. I honestly hadn’t seen her since she was about 5 years old, but her easy smile, spunky personality and blond hair were things I remember well. All of those features are still things I found myself to be drawn to even as she is a grown young woman now.
We spent our time split between downtown Huntsville and finished up our time at Five Oaks Farm. It sprinkled on us pretty much the whole session, but fortunately it didn’t get us too wet! At the end of the evening, they got in their car and headed home, and no more than 10 minutes later the heavens opened up and it started POURING!!!
I personally love how these turned out. I hope you do too. <3
