Our first session got rained out… Bummer right? Well, I couldn’t be happier with the images I got! This location is one of my favorites in Madison Al. It has so many natural elements and all nice and close together. I love the job of using natural light in an outdoor environment. The textures and changing variables are always simple and challenging at the same time. It makes it almost impossible to duplicate the same image twice! It keeps me on my toes and forces me to stay creative and not fall in to a rut ;-)
After a session, I always rush home to play with the images! This session was no different, I got home only to find some images that were so simple and genuine… Oh how I LOVE these!!! I have been working with Allee’s mom for about a year now and we have become really great friends. I have also had the privilege of being her photographer as well! I say “privilege” because who could not consider it something special when she has children that look like THIS!!! (you can find their Family Photos and Ella Brook’s Birthday Photos here) Good grief! This was a mini session and I had the most horrible time choosing my 10 favorites. She is simply adorable! Happy birthday Allee :-)

Meet the Campbells :-) It was a early morning shoot on beautiful property with a special family and 3 southern sweet kids! We even caught some beautiful golden hour light at the beginning of the shoot. I love shooting outdoor photography! There are so many beautiful places to explore. In this case I have some friends who own a gorgeous dairy and beef farm. Their land is simply beautiful!!!
This photo shoot was extra special though. Seven years ago on exactly this day their little boy legally became a Campbell! Ever since then they have celebrated “Family Day” with family pictures, a big waffle breakfast and spending the whole day together. I am so glad they chose me to document such an important day in their lives :-)

This is Ashley :-) I taught a semester of photography to a group of high schoolers at a local home school co-op this past year, and Ashley was one of my students! She LOVES photography and is excited to learn more. When we started chatting about a location she knew right where she wanted to go. Down the street from her house is the coolest horse barn. I can totally see why she chose it as the location for her senior photos! The color and texture was an awesome backdrop and I love it when a client chooses a location that means something to them. It makes the photos more personal, they are more comfortable, the images always turn out better because they just feel natural! I love doing on location photography for this very reason :-) These are just a few of my favorites, there were so many beautiful images! Ashley also loves a good serious photo so I had to make sure to get a few without smiles. ;-)

There is something simply beautiful about those first few moments in the hospital after a baby has been born. They are precious and I have been wanting to do a session like this for a LONG time!!! I did Jenny’s maternity photos not long ago and now I want to introduce you to Violet. She is brand new and only 11 Hours old! Congratulations Jenny and Brian! She is beautiful!!!

I am horribly embarrassed to say this session got off to a really rough start… We had made plans to shoot at a completely different location only to arrive and find out that there was a huge event going on and a fence around the whole place! Like a prepared photographer should, I had a back up plan close by… The problem was that I hadn’t even mentioned it to Monisha and when we got there it wasn’t what she had in mind… We put our heads together and ended up at Monte Sano National Park and started shooting over an hour after our appointment time! These two girls were happy little troopers through it all!!! I know how hard it would have been having my kids in the car for an extra hour and these two were still sweet as ever. Thank you Joe and Monisha for hanging in there! I PROMISE it won’t happen again!!!

When this little girls mom started sending me photos of what she had in mind for this session it was very obvious she was drawn to the “golden hour” light. The hour before sunset and the hour after sunrise are simply magical. It is warm and golden, flattering and not harsh. There are many photographers who will not shoot natural light photography any other time of the day! I wasn’t sure if she was going to go with the idea of a 7:00-7:30am start time (With a 3 year old!) but she was COMMITTED!!! It was SO worth it!!! The light in these first few is just gorgeous and Ella Brooke looks like a china doll to me <3
This photo shoot was in honor of her birthday! Her mom and I are good friends and I can tell you first hand that Ella Brook is smart and spunky, beautiful and determined. Everything a true southern girl is made of! Happy birthday Ella Brooke, you are beautiful in every way :-)

We had the amazing opportunity to spend Easter weekend on vacation! It wasn’t a particularly restful vacation but we had a TON of fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat! We stayed in a 3 bedroom condo with some of our extended family that was literally on the beach. Between fun in the sun, some outlet mall shopping, searching for crabs in the moonlight and Easter photos our 2 day “vacation” was crammed full of activities. It is hard to sit back and just relax when there is so much you want to experience in such a short time :-)
Friday
My kids have been talking about going to the beach ever since we planned it and they were SO excited to get there after a 6 hour car ride and arriving at 9:30pm. In the morning they woke up and rushed to the window and were so sad to see rain and storms… It was absolutely pitiful when I told them that we were doing a shopping day instead of playing on the beach… In spite of the rain we did take them on a rainy walk down to get our toes wet though ;-) An afternoon of shopping the outlet malls to pick up some things for their new baby sister (supposedly arriving the beginning of August) and then out to eat at a local seafood place! (Ahhhhhmazing) :-)
Saturday
The next day was filled with the beach! It was BEAUTIFUL!!! Crystal clear water, gorgeous white sand and 3 adorable children to take pictures of. Noah wasn’t really feeling well though so it was a little difficult to get much of a smile out of him…
That night we went looking for crabs on the beach. We didn’t find any crabs but we did see a pelican! I LOVE knowing my camera as well as I do!!! It was very dark out with only the light of the moon and I didn’t have a tripod with me… I would have never been able to get this image otherwise :-)
Sunday! Easter day! Picture day! Travel day…
We got an early start and had a fun time taking Easter pictures on the beach with the kids. It was SO nice to have my husband helping out! Noah literally wanted to RUN in to the water. It was very funny actually ;-) They keep us on our toes, that’s for sure!
I made her dress this year :-) It is actually something I do on the side here and there… I only make custom dresses but if you want to take a look at what I have done in the past you can check out my Precocious Peanut Facebook page or my Precocious Peanut Etsy Shop.
I am a little sad to post these photos actually… I think I have had a grin plastered on my face the whole time I have been working on them! They are such precious memories and I can honestly say they represent this trip well :-) Please leave a comment and let me know what you think :-) I would love to hear from you!
