Do you remember bringing home your baby from the hospital? The anticipation, how exciting and scary it was to get the discharge paperwork from the hospital, how little they look in their bed, how they smell, how they feel, the little squeaks they make, the way they yawn with their whole body, the feeling that you are this new little persons whole world and there is no one they want more. I remember seeing my husband in a whole new wonderful way when I watched him with our babies. The strong daddy hands that are so careful with this new tiny treasure. These details are just a little part of why I so intensely love lifestyle photography. The images say more, do more than just show how cute or how tiny. They give context, they give meaning, they show something “more” that isn’t tangible.
I love lifestyle photography. It gives a picture of your life. You may not think your life is a “beautiful” worthy of photos but it is. That is why I come to your home for newborn photos. I bring everything with me, the bedding, accessories, heater, blankets, the whole shebang! I set up in a room with good natural light (normally the master bedroom) and just use whatever else is available. I use a “baby lead” approach to posing and I just really love the results of the more natural look of the images. After all, having a baby is about the whole family. The unconditional love, the adjustment and the excitement!
When I look through these photos all I can think of is how excited I am for them. In a blink of an eye she wont be a newborn any more and I am so glad they decided lifestyle newborn photography was worth the investment!

Such a beautiful evening with the sweetest couple. She is 34 weeks pregnant and as I sat here editing these maternity photos I kept thinking to myself how wonderful she looks! (I didn’t look any where close to this good at 34 weeks!) This is their first baby and it was so obvious that they are incredibly excited! I am so blessed to have this job where I get to share in so many amazing milestones and moments with my clients. I can’t wait to take this little guys newborn photos!!!

Meet Austin! We met up to do a mini session as a part of his Grow With Me package. I have absolutely LOVED watch him get bigger each time I see him <3 He was absolutely precious in his newborn photos and just perfect for his 4 month session!

Isn’t she exquisite? She has the ginger coloring and those freckles make me jealous every time I see her! To top it off she is just sweet <3 This isn’t the first time she has been in front of my lens, last year for her session she had this dress all picked out and then it just got too cold sooner than we thought it would… The photos turned out great but we made sure to get some use out of the dress this time around. It was simply perfect and I can’t tell you how much I am in love with how these photos turned out. We started the session with sun but then the clouds rolled in. We kept thinking that they would blow past but as darker storm clouds rolled in over the white fluffy ones I had a decision to make. I decided to stop feeling disappointed about my lost sun and embrace the storm!

I am always a little surprised when I find out that a family of more than 3 has never had their family photos taken. I grew up with a mom that was religious about taking family photos at least once a year. As a result, we have a visual history dating all the way back to when I was born of our family and how we changed over the years. Now that I have kids of my own I realize what a gift that was.
I feel honored that this family chose me to take their first photos as a family. I know the value of visual history and I am so happy to have helped them document their own! :-)

This family is special to me. Jenny is one of my best friends and when I found out that they hadn’t had a family picture taken since before their last 3 children were born I just knew we would have to fix that! You know I love photographing large family’s. They are more challenging and I spend lots of extra time editing but I just love producing great photos of large families. They are worth all of the extra work and the time that these babies are going to live at home, all together, is so short. It is just worth it :-)

There is a reason I love photographing families with young children. Children let you know exactly how they feel and it is pretty obvious when they feel comfortable and happy. It took a bit for them to warm up (like most kids do) but this was one of those beautiful times that I got to just sit back and document a couple of great parents love on their kids. The images speak for themselves. Three beautifully happy and cherished kids and a family that is completely in love with each other <3

I don’t normally take photos of seniors. In fact, Taylor is only the 2nd senior shoot I have done. I make it no secret that my focus is Family – Children – Lifestyle but I have to say, it was so much FUN to take Taylor’s senior photos!!! We got to go to 4 different locations, lots of different outfits and having a partner while chasing the light was a blast :-D

This is Austin. You may remember him from his Newborn Session about 6 months ago. I absolutely LOVE it when parents decide to use my Grow With Me packages! Seeing how babies change and grow is so much fun. Austin is the 3rd boy in this family of 5 and he has some pretty awesome big brothers to teach him all of the important things about growing up! Their Grow With Me package included a family session as well because having photos of just the kids is great, but having them where everyone is together is even better. :-)

You know that look, when someone loves so completely it spills out of their eyes? This little girl not only has 2 parents that feel that way about her but she also has the precious gift of her grandma as well. This family is over the moon for this little girl and every moment of it shows when I look at these images. I was talking with a friend the other day and where she loves having only 1 person in the frame I feel exactly the opposite! I LOVE the connection that I can capture when there is more than 1 person, I love photos where they are engaging with each other instead of looking at the camera, I love freezing moments in time to remember for always!
The Burks have been with me from the very beginning. If you want a cool before and after check out their first family photography session. ;-) It is amazing how time changes things. I just want to thank them so much for sticking with me through all of my learning curves and just trusting me with whatever hair brained idea I suggest next!
